Farewell, Andrew!

Today was summer REU student Andrew LaDuca’s last day.  In a short 10 weeks, Andrew gained useful insights into the electrochemistry of an interesting class of organic molecules with hypothetical applications in water splitting and energy storage.  Best wishes for your senior year at Grand Valley and future career!

Congratulations, Derek!

Congratulations to Derek Metcalf, who will graduate with his B.S. in Chemical Engineering this week!  Derek will be heading south to join the Chemistry Ph.D. program at Georgia Tech this summer.  Derek has done great work on a number of project, and we’re looking forward to seeing more great things from him.  Congratulations and good luck, Derek!

Oskar and Monica Graduate!

Congratulations to Levine group undergraduates Monica O’Brien and Oskar Ubysz who are graduating with their bachelor’s degrees this weekend!  Monica has applied quantum chemical methods to develop an understanding of singlet fission in a conjugated oligomer, while Oskar has developed a molecular dynamics code to compute the entropic barrier to reach a conical intersection seam.  Both have done excellent work here, and we will be looking forward to seeing the great things they accomplish in their future careers!
